Swatches of Nyx Nude Matte Shadows

I previously posted a haul from Ulta where I got mostly Nyx things aside from a mascara. So I thought I would show you swtaches of the single eyeshadows I got. I only now own three of these. All three being very light colors. I don't use dark shades all that much, and when I do want to use them, I tend to pick some of the shades from my Urban Decay Naked 3 palette. I would like to get my hands on more of these Nyx shadows, they seem nice and have a smooth consistency and texture to them. They swatch well and seem to blend rather easily.

This first shade here is "I Have A Headache" and it's a pale pale pale yellow/white shade. It reminds me of "Foxy" in the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette. When swatching all of these shadows they feel very light and feathery. They don't feel heavy, or that can become cakey. I bought this shade to use as a highlight shade because the other shades I have don't really 'pack a punch' when I need them to, or they just hardly show up on my fair skin tone. I think that this shade will work for what I intend to use it for. I believe that it will make a great base color, for all over the eye area to make blending shadows more seamless and effortless.

The next shade is "Lap Dance" and it's a pale peachy tone. It's almost a milky peach tone. It's not as peach as I expected it to be, but that's not an overall bad thing. When looking at the swatch I noticed that it almost blended into my skin tone, and that's where I see it being an advantage for me. Since it does almost match my skin tone, I think I can use it as a "nothing" color to blend out other shadows without depositing more color than wanted. It still does have that peach hue to it, which doesn't exactly match my skin, so it does stand out, but it's nothing dramatic. Granted, it is pigmented, and there is color to the shadow, so it will be another color added to a look, but for me, it won't look that obvious. Now for someone with a darker complexion than my own, this may make a good highlight shade for you.

The last color I own is "Kiss The Day" and I found this to be more of a satin finish than a true matte. I could tell from swatching that it is the most powdery out of all three here. Upon further examination you can see a sheen to the shadow that the others don't have. It doesn't bother me because I'll still find a purpose for it. I do like this shadow. It reminds me of "Strange" from Urban Decay's Naked 3 palette. However, this one was the least pigmented. I found it also to be chunky when going to swatch it. It didn't have the same smooth feathery texture that the others had. It was weird. It bunched up when I applied it to my skin, and you'll be able to see that in the swatch. You are able to blend out those patches, but it was a real turn off that they were there, and the other two shadows didn't have them. I did use this shade as a base for my other eye shadows I was wearing and as a highlight to the brow bone and the inner corner and it wore and looked beautifully.

So my final thoughts on the shades I purchased is that they were worth it. They have a smooth texture, and a buttery feel.  Granted they aren't a $20 shadow, so I don't expect them to act like one. For the price, they have great quality, and great payoff. I like these shades, and I do use them. Especially "I Have A Headache" as my base and highlight shade. I do want to get more of these shadows in some darker colors and see how they compare to the lighter ones that I have. So if you are looking for inexpensive matte shadows try the Nyx ones, and another bonus is that they go on sale quite often at Ulta so you can get them for even cheaper! (and they are quite easy to depot and put into a z-palette)
**As always the primer used was Urban Decay's Primer Potion
